February 1955:Change on the Horizon

A very cool ad (I think)touting WFMJ-TV 21 and it's claim as Youngstown's "Most powerful" TV station.

"Ol' Banjoeyes", Eddie Cantor, premiered his syndicated comedy/variety show Thursdays at 7:30 on WEWS-5 beginning March 3, 1955

Saturday Nights at 7PM in early 1955, WNBK-3 Presented "The Whistler", a syndicated series based on the Radio Drama series of the same name..

WNBK-3 Presented a young David Wayne in the sitcom, "Norby" Wednesday nights at 7PM in February/March, 1955. Wayne, among his other roles, would be known as "The Mad Hatter" in the ABC Batman Series.

Today we're going back to the year 1955.Looking at the weekend of February 26-27 In TV Guide..This weekend is noteworthy becomes it comes a few days before the first big "network swap" In Cleveland. WEWS Channel 5 moved from CBS to ABC and WXEL (soon WJW) Channel 8 from ABC to CBS. I expect to have more on the "big swap" over the next week or so as I gather some newspaper articles and do a bit more research..
